It’s been an interesting first week!
First of all, I have to thank the staff at the Buckingham head office of BRPS for a very warm and supportive welcome. I’m sure they must have answered hundreds of my questions and I’m very grateful for the way they have helped me start to get to grips with the way the organisation works
Despite delays in the delivery of furniture I now have a nice new office, complete with regulation potted plant and a picture of my family. Also, critically, I’ve started to get to grips with who has milk, sugar, decaf, and the fancy leopardskin mug.
Nice welcomes too from several of the branches, and a diary already starting to look quite busy for the next couple of months. I’m looking forward to attending a number of branch AGMs and to meeting the branch chairmen at their annual gathering in London on 6th October.
I’ve been inundated with reading material which will keep me occupied for most of next week as I climb the steep learning curve that most of us would associate with any significant new job. My experience in my previous job at rural regeneration charity ruralnet|uk certainly helps, but I realise there is a lot to learn about the work of BRPS.
I hope to add a message, news item, or some personal thoughts here at least once each week, so do come back from time to time. Also, you can add messages or comments to mine by clicking on the “comments” link below.
So thanks again for the welcome, and now to work ….
